Christopher Judy joined veterans, volunteers, and community members in Columbia City to celebrate the ribbon cutting and open house for Fort Freedom, a new milestone for The Buddy System Inc.
The gathering marked the opening of a place built around companionship, support, and a renewed sense of purpose for veterans. Christopher took part in the ribbon cutting and shared remarks as the community came together to recognize the people making that mission possible.

A community showing up for veterans
In its recap of the celebration, The Buddy System thanked the volunteers, donors, and neighbors who helped prepare the facility and supported its opening. The organization describes Fort Freedom as a place where veterans can find encouragement, connection, and support as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
For Christopher, a veteran himself, the occasion reflected the importance of keeping faith with those who have served. It was an opportunity to recognize the local people working to make sure veterans have a community beside them after military service.

No Buddy Left Behind
Fort Freedom is located at 4863 E. Lincolnway Road in Columbia City. The Buddy System’s motto, “No Buddy Left Behind,” captures the purpose behind the celebration: building lasting connections and helping veterans know they do not have to navigate life after service alone.
Thank you to The Buddy System team and everyone who contributed their time, resources, and encouragement to this milestone.
